11 Of The Biggest Jerks In Hollywood
When it comes to celebrities, you either love them or hate them. At
the very least, being a polarizing figure gets you talked about, and as
the saying goes, no publicity is ever really bad publicity. Granted you
attract more bees with honey, vinegar works up a big enough stink
worth fussing over.
The rich and famous pay publicists good money to ensure their reputation remains in immaculate condition. These PR people work hard to keep the public on your side, and give you as squeaky clean, and likable an image as any star can realistically have. They help you keep what’s private; private, and only strategically reveal tidbits of personal information, so your adoring fans still manage to feel a connection with you. Essentially a famous person’s reputation relies heavily on their PR team, who are responsible for making a star look as close as possible to a saint.
Celebrities with a notably good PR team, and a practically stainless reputation within the public eye include: Beyonce, Angelina Jolie and Barack Obama. Angelina’s PR team can’t get enough credit for turning the young bad girl we were all introduced to nearly 20 years ago, into the Mother Theresa we know and love today. Those with PR people who have their work cut out for them, and may as well not even be in existence, let alone on the pay roll, include: Chris Brown, Bill Cosby and Kanye West, who today have some of the worst reputations in entertainment. With that said, here are 11 stars considered to be the biggest jerks in Hollywood.
Actor, Director and Screenwriter Zach Braff, best known for his lead role in the comedy drama Scrubs,
seems fairly charismatic, with a good sense of humor on screen, but the
actor reportedly insists that he doesn’t want to work alongside good
looking male actors because he doesn’t want to appear unattractive by
comparison, and apparently wears a lot of make up on camera (thanks to
his insecurity). A set assistant once had this to say about Zach, “He
would frequently lose things and make the assistants drive hours to go
pick up some random jacket/phone charger/binder that he left somewhere
weeks ago, but suddenly decided he needed. He was high maintenance-
wouldn’t drink coffee from our office or any of the nearby coffee shops-
he’d only drink it from a specific store a couple miles away. Then when
bringing back his coffee, he had me leave it outside his office. I had
to knock, put down the coffee, and run out of sight. He was just odd and
needed a lot of ego massaging.”
When Justin Bieber hit
the mainstream in 2009, young girls across the globe were immediately
struck with the Bieber fever pandemic, thanks to the 15 year old’s charm
and smooth vocals. Justin’s quick ascent to the top of the music
industry promised of a popular and long thriving career. But by the time
the young star turned 18, the media that once praised him, began
vilifying him over trouble laden circumstances including: questions of
him impregnating an older woman, constant relationship drama with
ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez,
physical altercations with the paparazzi, arguments with his neighbors;
resulting in him facing vandalism charges and paying for damages,
run-ins with the law that involve driving under the influence, and the
release of defaming video footage of a teenage Bieber using highly
offensive racial slurs. Justin appeared on Ellen, admitting that his upcoming Comedy Central roast due out in March was his idea, because he is not proud of some of the things he’s done in the past, and he’d like to be able to laugh at himself over it.
Although
the actress’s career started out very promising, taking off with a much
coveted role on one of the highest rated TV shows, Grey’s Anatomy, and successfully branching off into film, with landing leads in numerous rom-coms, by now, everyone knows Katherine Heigl to be a difficult ingrate who can’t seem to keep her foot out of her mouth. The 27 Dresses
star has been known to speak ill of her own work, the work of
screenwriters, and that of her coworkers. In a painfully awkward move,
Katherine once declined an Emmy nomination for her role on Grey’s Anatomy because she felt the writing, done by the talented Shonda Rhimes,
wasn’t exactly up to par. Reportedly, since her reputation has been in
the tank, it’s been difficult for the actress to find work that compares
to her movie roles from a decade ago, which would explain why she’s
gone back to television, starring in the new TV series State of Affairs, in addition to two feature films due out this year.
Not surprisingly, Jesse James’ reputation never fully recovered after news broke that he was unfaithful to his wife of five years and America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock.
Jesse was exposed as a serial cheater back in 2010, all while the
couple were in the middle of their first adoption, ultimately leaving
Sandra to become a single mother to a newborn. Among the many women
Jesse philandered with included tattoo shop owner Kat Von D,
who was later betrothed to Jesse and confessed after calling things off
that he in fact, cheated on her as well. Once a cheater always a
cheater. Jesse later wrote a memoir detailing why he made the decision
to cheat on Sandra Bullock.
The bankable actor Russell Crowe may be an A-lister, but he’s not very charismatic off screen. Many have complained about the Gladiator star, from ordinary fans, to reporters, to fellow A-listers like George Clooney. George spoke to Esquire Magazine recounting a time when Russell had spoken out about he, Harrison Ford and Robert De Niro,
calling them sellouts. Where upon George responded by publicly stating,
“He’s probably right. And I’m glad he told us, because Bob and Harrison
and I were thinking about starting a band, which would also fall under
the heading of bad use of celebrity.” George claims that Russell was infuriated
by this and responded,”Who the f**k does this guy [Clooney] think he
is? He’s a Frank Sinatra wannabe.” That response led George to send
Russell a note saying, “Dude, the only people who succeed when two
famous people are fighting is People magazine. What the f**k is wrong with you?” Singer Meghan Trainor shared a pre-fame story on The Tonight Show recently, about running into Russell and Nicole Kidman at a restaurant and approaching the movie stars where she was promptly told by Russell to f*ck off.
No matter how many classics Gwenyth Paltrow
has starred in, she’s not very likable for some reason. It may have
something to do with her ‘holier than thou’ attitude in regards to food
and diet topics. Whatever the case, the actress was named the most hated
celebrity of 2014 by Star Magazine. Ouch, that title has gotta hurt. Critics describe Gwenyth as cluelessly condescending and “a rich white woman with an eating disorder turned into a branding opportunity.” In response to Gwenyth’s lifestyle publication GOOP, Martha Stewart
had this to say, “She just needs to be quiet, she’s a movie star. If
she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha
Stewart.”
Once known as an iconic, father figure of America, Bill Cosby’s
formerly spotless legacy has been forever tarnished due to the
staggering number of sexual assault allegations involving the comedian
that have come forth in the past few months. Dozens of women have come
forward with eerily similar stories of being drugged and taken advantage
of by The Cosby Show actor, with stories dating back as far as
the 1970’s. Many of the women claim they hesitated to share their
tragic experience publicly for so many years because they feared going
up against a giant name like Bill Cosby, and knew they wouldn’t be
believed. Bill has been slow to deny the allegations, but the comedian
settled a lawsuit from one of his accusers as recently as 2006. Today,
the once highly respected actor is often heckled at his comedy shows by
former fans who believe him to be guilty.
Everybody remembers the time Christian Bale infamously lost his s*** on a photography director on the set of Terminator: Salvation,
a few years back; for walking around in the background and breaking the
actor’s concentration. Audio of the intense exchange was leaked shortly
before the film’s release, in which Christian can be heard hurling
extremely harsh insults at the DP, identified as Shane Hurlbut. Shane
can be heard apologizing profusely and barely defends himself the entire
time. The audio is difficult to take in, and you actually start to feel
sorry for Shane who is repeatedly name called, condescended towards,
and even threatened. Christian later apologized for his colossal D-bag
behavior, admitting that it was unacceptable.
The self proclaimed Yeezus, better known as Kanye West,
very clearly believes himself to be god’s gift to music. While his
music is a sure fire worldwide hit, the rapper’s over confidence and
outspokenness tends to rub most people the wrong way. No one could ever
forget that one time a tipsy Kanye made his way up to the MTV video
awards stage to interrupt a 19 year old Taylor Swift, who
was accepting her first Album of the Year award, to voice his
absolutely necessary opinion that the accolade should have instead gone
to Beyonce.
The hip hop artist was crucified in the media for weeks without end.
Someone should really tie this guy’s shoe laces together at the next
awards ceremony.
Formerly the highest paid actor on television, Charlie Sheen is plain-spoken, blunt and opinionated. The actor was infamously fired from Two and a Half Men in
2012, for cocaine use and making derogatory public comments about the
show. In addition to publicly challenging his former boss Chuck Lorre, to a cage match
in the Ultimate Fighter Octagon, noting that if he won, the producer
would have to leave the show. In a phone call interview with The Alex Jones Show,
Charlie refers to Chuck saying, “You can tell him one thing, I own
him.” Charlie is also infamous for his involvement with escort services,
checking in and out of rehab countless times throughout his career,
taking low blows to female celebrities such as Rihanna and Kim Kardashian, and stepping out on one of America’s sweetheart’s ex-wife Denise Richards, multiple times during their marriage.
In 2009, when news broke that the 19 year old R&B crooner brutally battered his girlfriend at the time, fellow popstar Rihanna, Chris Brown’s
reputation took an equally brutal blow. The young man was on the
precipice of becoming a huge star; thanks to his natural singing and
dancing abilities. But all of these talents have since been eclipsed by
the violent incident, that followed with photographic evidence of
Rihanna’s bruised face. Rihanna received sympathy from the public up
until she reconciled with Chris briefly in 2011. The songstress’ career
however, has since flourished leaps and bounds, whereas Chris’ never
truly managed to make a full recovery thanks in large part to his belief
that he himself, was victimized by the entire ordeal, missing out on
highly lucrative endorsements and countless accolades. Today the 25 year
old is painted in the public eye as a bad boy, frequently in trouble
with the law, recently released from jail, and still under probation.
