Inventing Anna - Characters broken down.

Inventing Anna

I have so many opinions over this series (whole situations) I am not even sure where to start but I will break it down based on Characters/People

Vivian and her team

The fact that it took the journalist over 35 minutes of scream time to realize ‘maybe I should check this girl’s Instagram’ is why she’s lowkey not that good at her job.

What kind of life is it that a new mother has to leave her new born child only a week old that she wrote until her waters break and also go overseas for a story just to make up for a fake set up story.

The “older” people in the journalist office helping Vivian šŸ„ŗ love them, squad goals! So cute how they all gathered together to pull all the information they could find!

Vivian’s husband too (where can I get myself one of those?)

Anna and Chase

Anna learnt from her boyfriend Chase, how to scam people, only she was better at it.

I just don't understand the rich/elite surrounded by fake friendship

Both Anna and Chase exploited rich people…

I will never understand rich people. The environment of the elite's party is so weird and full of fake friendships.

Anna and Alan

Anna gave Alan a new take on life. He was just alive, he wasn't living, then came Anna, she took him out of

the routine he had carefully created and reminded him how much he loves his work and life. He was so content he allowed himself to be fooled. It seems he also  thought of Anna as the daughter he wished he had,  smart, talented, motivated and ambitious, traits his own  daughter lacked.

And that kind of elixir is better than any kind of mind bending sex

So what I’m saying was shown is... Anna helped improve Alan’s life šŸ˜‚

In the process of trying to scam him she improved his taste in art, clothes, gave him advice about his daughter and energized him which led him to get closer to his wife, AND he ended up getting promoted and not losing any money personally. Maybe getting downgraded socially could be his worst punishment.

Men fail upwards

Anna and Neff

Just because Anna managed to somehow pay the hotel bill and give back your money, you’re going to forget all the sketchy things you found out about her??? That’s not friendship, it’s choosing the be dumb because you don’t want to miss on that lifestyle.

And how can Neff still be her friend knowing she's a con woman who doesn't even care if a friend will lose her job?

Neff was acting like a pick me girl in my opinion.

Anna and Rachel

Why didn't Rachel cancel her credit cards as soon as she was boarding the plane back from Morocco?!? She knew there was a chance her cards would be charged for everything.

But I also completely understand Neff, don’t go on a trip if you cannot pay for it in case of an emergency… Rachel was always suggesting stuff she couldn’t afford herself. What was that shit about 3 course meal won't be enough.

People were so blinded by the fact that they thought Anna had money… that they didn’t see the truth except Neff’s boyfriend who didn’t even met her and Kacy's bf

Anna and Others

Who can charter a jet with no money?  Let's be fair and admit that she had so much confidence in herself that she could move mountains if she wanted to. Imagine a referral from the owner.

And wait a minute, Even if you're rich, who would let two people live in their house for free and gave their credit card just like that?!

Anna

Anna starts off relationships as cold, and distant. She loves being pursued. Once she gets you in her circle, she sheds the heartless facade and shares something deep with you, only for a second. When someone who you know to be distant and uncaring opens up and shares themselves with you, it leaves an everlasting imprint, it makes you loyal and incredibly trustworthy. You feel as if this entire person is depending on you to be there for them, to be their everything, no matter how many insults they shower you with, no matter how much they hurt you, you feel you have to save them. This is the reason why Neff was so loyal, why Rachel gave her the benefit of the doubt and why Vivian was so upset with her sentencing, they all thought they saw the real Anna, the one hidden underneath Anna Delvey.

Neff, Vivian and Todd are still under her charms until the end. Many people don’t seem to understand Shonda’s point. The fact that they still defend her, that they still care for her… that’s just Anna’s amazing ability to manipulate people. It’s not Shonda agreeing that the court should have gone easier on her, but that these people have the possibility to manipulate people even if all the objective evidence is laid in front of them.

it bothers me that they treat her most of the time like she's 13, not 26. I am also irritated by this sick desire to fix bad people.  They are usually toxic compounds. Just leave it to Jesus.

Talk about Check kiting. Just go watch the movie by Leornado DiCaprio - Catch me if you can, anyways don't even think of doing it. It does work nowadays.

All in all none of these characters have my sympathy but the show is pretty entertaining anyway

I don’t buy any sympathetic aspect to Anna. She really is a sociopath. She only cries when she doesn’t get her way like a child throwing a tantrum. She’s manipulative, smart, cunning and able to fake emotion like any true sociopath. Her parents’ statements confirmed just that.

What I hate about this show that they’re trying to redeem what Anna did. She scammed people (a narcissist) (just like tinder swindler did) and YET people are siding with her and saying it’s all good and she was young like she was 13 while she was 26 for crying out loud?

Anna… is definitely a sociopath - her parents say that she was “different” from childhood. She is a mastermind at reading and manipulating people to get what she wants. She absolutely deserves to be in jail. But so do other criminals like Simon (Leviev) from The Tinder Swindler. I wonder if she had been a man, would it have been a better for her? Most likely. As has been mentioned below, she could have also married for money, but I think she wanted to prove she was capable of it by herself.

Shonda has issues the whole Olivia Pope sleeping with the president and making the show love Pope sawa, but this story is a fiction based on true story and she has gaslighted the real victim and victimized the Villain and also made her a diva for people to like and feel sorry for.

Todd and Vivian ended up being so ridiculous I cannot take them seriously. Anna Sorokin was a narcissistic sociopathic criminal mastermind who played everyone around her, including professionals you'd expect won't fall for it. Why the heck would Shonda try to garner viewers sympathies for Anna and not for Rachel? How the fuck does Rachel turn out to be the bad guy here? How the hell does everyone have Anna's back with everything she's done? Vivian all around wins the award for the worst mother in the world (typical of Shonda as well, work always comes before children) Todd wins the worst husband of the year and the only smart people here seems to be Anna's parents.

ESH (everyone sucks here).

The Tinder Swindler told the whole story in 2 hours while Shonda couldn't do that in 9 hours, so many knots to tie, no money origin (don't wanna spoil)

I am glad the court demanded , process from Netflix should go to victims and left was left for her. I still stan Anna that girl is a mastermind.

Watching Tinder Swindler then Inventing Anna is giving major trust issues. Making me question my own people šŸ§ Anna is super smarter than the TS, She could sell the ice to the Eskimo.
